Transforming Potential
Into Power
Fashion with a Purpose. Founded in 2014, The Mia Space Project is a labor of love led by Demetria
‘Mia’ Space. Drawing on her background in fashion (Columbia College) and a deep commitment to
social advocacy, Mia realized that for women escaping domestic violence or homelessness,
clothing is not just utility—it is armor. It is dignity.
From Grassroots to Global Support Operating as a fully grassroots organization, Mia and her team
have built a logistical hub for community giving. We organize drives, manage pickups, and store
inventory until the moment it is needed. This dedication to operational excellence has garnered
the support of partners like Stripe, Hilton Hotels, and Meta (Facebook Chicago).
Our Mission
Curating Dignity We believe that every woman deserves clothing that fits her specific journey.
That is why we reject the “one-size-fits-all” donation model. Instead, we create bespoke goals for
our partner shelters, providing professional wear for job seekers, comfort wear for those in
recovery, and heavy outerwear for surviving Chicago winters.
Our Team
The Mia Space Project is powered by a group of passionate, caring, and dedicated individuals who believe deeply in community, dignity, and compassion. Our team brings together volunteers, organizers, and community leaders who share one mission:
Mia Space
Founder & Director
A compassionate leader driven by community impact. Mia founded The MIA Space Project with a clear vision: to turn the simple act of cleaning out a closet into a movement of generosity. Her goal is to serve women in need with the dignity, resources, and love they deserve.
Your Generosity Changes Lives
Whether you choose to donate clothing, volunteer your time, contribute financially, or simply spread the word — you are helping us create real change
